Here is an updated list of several WordPress blog plugins that I have found very helpful. You can search for these plugins via your WordPress Admin Console.

  • Backup your blog – There are quite a few Plugins to choose from so review and choose one to backup your hard work. I am currently testing several different options, and I will make a recommendation in a future post.
  • All in One SEO Pack – Optimizes your WordPress blog for Search Engines (Search Engine Optimization).
  • Google Analytics for WordPress – If you use Google Analytics for your main site, you can also use this plugin makes it simple to add Google Analytics to your WordPress blog, adding lots of features, eg. custom variables and automatic clickout and download tracking.
  • Quantcast Quantifier – If you use Quantcast analytics for your main site, Quantcast Quantifier adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Quantcast logging on any WordPress blog. This eliminates the need to edit your template code to begin logging.
  • Google XML Sitemaps – This plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com to better index your blog.

Have you found a blog back up solution that you like? I did not even think of that. I’d love to know of your findings and recommendations.

I know I replied to you, and I also sent you an email. It seems my comment has magically disappeared, but for any future browsers who stumble across my post via the search engines, you can see my response to Anita below, and she has some excellent suggestions.

I use Filezilla to FTP my site for offsite storage. It does a complete backup and is done very quickly. I’ve also tried the XCloner plugin and it worked well too. I would add the StatPress plugin to your list. It does a great job of tracking lots of key information about site usage.

Thanks for your comments. It looks like my comment to Leslie has magically disappeared (another WordPress bug), but I also backup via FileZilla as well as by logging into the MySQL DB.

And I also use the BackUpWordPress and EZPZ One Click Backup WordPress Plugins. I backup my blog every month.
